“Velouse Flyers” is a club for people who want to improve, it can be any type of improvement such as health, fitness, mental strength, life style, confidence, organisation. The list could be endless, we never stop learning. The club is all about learning, teaching and experiencing things together through activities and adventure. The club is run by everyone, decisions are voted on by the members, any member can put forward ideas and propose changes.
A CLUB FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO IMPROVE
The club is proud to be affiliated with British cycling and currently has six BC accredited coaches, the coaching provided has two paths, one a skilled path centred around correct position on a bike and bike handling and riding in a group. The second path is for competition this includes the same things but also includes more performance orientation aspects such as tactics, pacing, pre-race preparation.
Some small adventures like, riding from Kings Lynn to Snettisham entirely of road, stopping for a cup of tea and breakfast on a camp stove. Larger adventures such as bike packing around Wales carrying everything you need.
This could be to famous races such as Paris Roubaix or the tour of Flanders where we ride the course the day(s) before and watch the race. Or Bike packing in Wales and the UK or further afield. Or a trip to a velodrome etc.
Starting in spring when the roads are free of ice, there will be a mixture of distances for club rides anything from 10miles (great to get kids riding on the road) to 200+ mile rides such as round Norfolk and everything in between.
Group indoor workout sessions are great in winter when the evenings are dark to maintain fitness ready for spring when outdoor riding is easier.
We are a member of Eastern Cross League and competing individually and as a Velouse Flyers Team in all age categories.
Velouse Flyers club is open and friendly cycling group, providing coaching sessions for young people in traffic-free spaces. Our goal is to help children and young people get into cycling and support talented riders to realise their potential and progress within the club as a racing member or active cycling member.
